What is IB?

Picture
IB is a way of thinking just as much as it is a course of study. The mission statement of IB (ibo.org) is as follows:

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

This program is a rigorous pre-university course of study designed for high school students ages 16-19. It is a broad-based two-year course of study that aims to encourage students to be knowledgeable and inquiring, but a leo caring and compassionate. There is a strong emphasis on encouraging students to develop intercultural understanding, open-mindedness, and the attitudes necessary for them to respect and evaluate a range of points of view.

This is the book we will use. It will be YOUR BEST FRIEND in this class. It is super easy to navigate and is organized by topics. There is also a Study Guide to accompany this book. I recommend this for second year IB Biology as you prepare for the IB Exams.
